Last night, Google announced a new vulnerability had been found in the Chrome browser.
Google is aware of reports that an exploit for CVE-2019-5786 exists in the wild.
Their news release indicated that hackers have already figured out how to exploit the bug.Google prepared and has made available an upgrade that needs to be installed right away to protect against this latest vulnerability.
"Seriously, update your Chrome installs," says Google Chrome security engineer Justin Schuh, "like, right this minute."
How Do I Upgrade My Google Chrome Browser?
To check the version of Chrome, follow these steps.
- Click the three stacked dots in the top-right corner.
- Select “help” towards the bottom of the list.
- Click on “About Google Chrome,” which will show you the version that is running. If a new version is available, you will be prompted on this page to upgrade. Chrome version 72.0.3626.121 or newer is safe.
